What you need to know for this pivotal Western Conference Game 6

The Impressive Canucks Young Core

There’s no doubt this has been the spiciest series we’ve seen from the Western Conference so far this NHL bubble play-offs. A couple overtimes, some great goalies, and overall just outstanding hockey is being played in this round. The talented youth of the Canucks is really proving to be a factor, their first two lines are flying around the ice like it’s nobody’s business.

Elias Petterson, Bo Horvat, Brock Boeser, Quinn Hughes, these are just a few of their big names lighting up the lamp and giving the Canucks a much needed play-off push. They won’t shy away from the score sheet in this possible series clinching game either. Especially with the numbers their power play units are putting up. Not only are the players dialed in, but goaltender Jacob Markstrom is performing like a decorated veteran. He’ll be expecting a hefty pay raise at the end of this season, and that is undoubtedly deserved. The most exciting part of this squad is the fact that they’re so deep with these young stallions, we won’t be seeing the last of Vancouver any time soon. The Canucks should be a force to be reckoned with for years to come.

Play-Off Experience

When it comes to an elite core group of guys who have been in this position before, the Blues have all of the advantage. This team has been together for quite a while. If you need a refreshment from last year, they are absolutely no strangers to having their backs against the wall. After being last place by Christmas break last season, St. Louis managed to turn the bus around by making the playoffs. The Blues then proved everyone wrong by taking home the Stanley Cup. No difference this year, this team has been down in a play-off round before, not to mention already being down 2-0 in this series to the Canucks.

What The Blues Need To Force Game 7

This game is going to be a dogfight. For the Blues the strategy is simple, after 5 games St Louis knows what they need to do in order to stay alive. First of all, shutting down that Vancouver power-play and their top line is a must. Ryan O’Reilly (the Factor) will play a massive role in getting this done, being one of the best two-way players in the game.

The Blues need their top guys to produce, Jaden Shwartz and Brayden Schenn are starting to show signs of life but they need all hands on deck to win this one. Especially with Tarasenko being forced to exit the bubble with that nagging shoulder injury. On top of offensive production, expect to see their huge defenceman Petriangelo and Parayko play at least 25 minutes quarterbacking the play. Should expect some great goal-tending in this one, it has been an absolute roller-coaster of a series, there’s no reason to think it doesn’t go seven games.
