Texans 2020 Mock Draft
- Draft
- Houston
- Mock
- Texans
The Texans had a good run this year, and after leading the Chiefs in the Divisional round, they ended up getting knocked out in a heartbreaker. They have many young, talented pieces and should have a good shot at returning to the post season in 2020. But, they do need a few key upgrades that they can get with a good draft. Below is my 7 round mock draft for the Houston Texans.
Round 2-Pick 25
Curtis Weaver (Edge, Boise State)
The Texans need to improve on the edge in 2020 and they need a solid pass rushing threat opposite of Whitney Mercilus. Brennan Scarlett and Jacob Martin both has reps at OLB, and Martin had 4.5 sacks. That’s not enough. Curtis Weaver gives them a compact, productive edge threat that has proven he can get after the quarterback.
Round 3-Pick 37
Ben Bartch (OT, Saint John’s)
Outside of Laremy Tunsil, the Texans offensive line has underperformed as a whole. They need a big-bodied mauler to give this unit a shot in the arm. Enter Bartch. The big man hailing from a division 3 school, that excelled in the Senior Bowl at both guard and tackle. He’s got smooth feet and a jarring, that is topped off with a nasty streak the Texans need.
Round 4-Pick 5
Kindle Vildor (CB, Georgia Southern)
Corner and safety play last year were, at best, mediocre last season. The unit gave up 32 passing touchdowns and badly need an infusion of talented youngsters. Vildor has good coverage skills and brings some much needed swagger to a unit desperately in need of it.
Round 4-Pick 25
Devin Asiasi (TE, UCLA)
A fun player to watch, Asiasi has the ability to make big plays over the middle of the field. He offers a dynamic that the Texans offense could really use to take the next step.
Round 5-Pick 25
Jeremy Chinn (Safety, Southern Illinois)
Round 7-Pick 26
Auzoyah Alufohai (DT, West Georgia)
Round 7-Pick 34
Darryl Williams (IOL, Mississippi State)
Round 7-Pick 35
Dante Olson (LB, Montana)
