Is Kevin Stefanski “The Guy” in Cleveland for the Browns?

Kevin Stefanski is getting the Browns to believe that they have found their Head Coach in Cleveland. The Browns have had twelve Head Coaches since the team came back to the NFL in 1999. The longest-tenured coach since then was the new Interim Coach for the Houston Texans, Romeo Crennel with 64 games coached between 2005-2008. There is only one head coach with a winning record since 1999 and that belongs to, Jets Defensive Coordinator Gregg Williams, who went 5-3 as the Browns Interm Head Coach in 2018.  Kevin Stefanski currently has the Browns at 3-1 to start the 2020 season. This is leading a lot of people to ask if the Browns have finally found their guy?

Kevin Stefanski started off with the Minnesota Vikings in 2006. He worked his way to Quarterback coach in 2017, he helped current Browns backup Quarterback Case Keenum have his best year with the Vikings in that season. In 2019 Stefanski was promoted to Offensive Coordinator for the Vikings. Stefanski was very instrumental in the Vikings 2019 postseason run.

When Kevin was brought into the Browns, they were ranked at the bottom over the league last year in scoring offense. So far, this season the Browns are ranked 1st in the NFL in rush yards and rushing touchdowns. The Browns are also ranked 4th in offensive scoring.

Stefanski has steadied, what was a rocky ship in Cleveland. The Browns front office, GM Andrew Berry and Head Coach Kevin Stefanski are on the same page with using analytics to make football decisions. This is a new phenomenon in the modern Browns history.

Is Kevin Stefanski “The Guy” in Cleveland?

Stefanski has brought in other great assistant coaches like Bill Callahan and Joe Woods, that are providing more smart voices on the team. The Browns are playing more disciplined this year and that is attributed to good coaching. Coach Stefanski became the youngest coach to win a game in the NFL at age 38, which is one year younger than Bill Belichick at 39.

The Browns have needed a calming force to help this young team learn how to win. I believe that the Browns have finally found the guy to lead them into the future. The team respects him, plays hard for him and they are winning. Winning is something that has constantly evaded the Browns. It is important to form some continuity, not only at the Quarterback position but at Head Coach as well. Stefanski is a great offensive mind, that is organized and the players respond to him. It will be important to give him time with Baker Mayfield and see what they can do together.

So is Kevin Stefanski the right Head Coach for the Cleveland Browns?

Yes, I do believe that the Browns have found their guy.
