Darrick Forrest is a 2021 NFL Draft Prospect

Darrick Forrest is a safety from Cincinnati and a prospect in the 2021 NFL Draft. Forrest started all of Cincinnati’s ten games this season. He made 40 tackles (31 solos), 1 tackle for loss, 1 pass broken up, and 2 interceptions. According to Pro Football Focus, Forrest was the 41st-highest-graded safety (with a 20% snap minimum); he earned an Overall grade of 76.1 (75.6 Coverage, 71.4 Run Defense, 67.0 Tackling).

Forrest was a low three-star prospect coming out of Columbus, Ohio. But he played as a true freshman in 2017 on special teams. Forrest started every game but one in 2018, then started every game for the next two years.

In 2019, Forrest earned First-Team All-American Conference honors; he led Cincinnati’s defense with 106 tackles. He also earned American Conference Honorable Mention in 2020. Across his career, he played in every game possible (49). Forrest also started 35 of 36 possible games after his freshman year.

In the NFL, Forrest projects as versatile safety that can contribute immediately and in a variety of ways. He does not have the weight to always play in the box. But he is very willing to come downhill and hit versus the run. Forrest has the speed and athletic ability to contribute in single-high or two-high defenses, along with in the slot. He is also a team leader with very good competitive toughness, allowing him to begin his career on special teams.
