It’s Week 8, and we’re kicking things off with an interesting Thursday Night Football encounter.

The Carolina Panthers are hosting the Atlanta Falcons, and both teams have losing records. The Panthers have looked good in parts but are currently sitting at 3-4. The Falcons on the other hand have had a really poor season and are looking to next season already at 1-6.

The Panthers are favorites for this game at 5/7 and the Falcons are 6/5 on the moneyline.

Carolina Panthers

The Panthers were a little unlucky against the Saints on Sunday losing 24-27. That has been the story to their season this year winning and losing by small margins. With the new coaching staff and new QB at Carolina, it does show some promising signs for the future.

Teddy Bridgewater is known as a game manager and a calm and controlled figure but he can make big plays. He has averaged 275 yards in a game and so far has got eight touchdowns and five interceptions.

A lot of Carolina’s season has been without star running back Christian McCaffery, but Mike Davis has done well. He has amassed over 500 yards and four touchdowns which is good for a replacement. Along with the run game going well, the receivers have also looked solid. D.J Moore, Robby Anderson and Curtis Samuel have all looked good especially Moore and Anderson.

Defensively the Panthers have kept a lot of their opponents to low scores. When they played Atlanta earlier this year they only gave up 16 points.

Atlanta Falcons

The Falcons have had an awful first half of the season and had another loss against the Lions on Sunday. They have looked a little better over the last two weeks but they still look vulnerable to the offense.

Matt Ryan has looked ok and has passed for a league leading 2,181 yards. Along with that he has also thrown 12 touchdowns and only 3 interceptions. Not only has Ryan done well statistically, the run game is also in good nick at the moment with Todd Gurley. He has rushed for 485 yards and seven touchdowns over the seven games.

At wide receiver, the Falcons have got the number one ranked player in Calvin Ridley at that position. He has got 615 yards and six touchdowns over the seven games. On the other hand, Julio Jones has been disappointing with 447 yards and two touchdowns although he had a hamstring injury. Russell Gage has also looked solid and a good young receiver.

The biggest problem for the Falcons has been the defense who have had a lot of injuries all season. The secondary has really suffered and the whole defense is ranked 27th in the league.

The Game

The previous meeting this year ended with a 23-16 Carolina Panthers victory in Atlanta. Although the head coach has changed and the Falcons have looked a little better, they still struggle defensively. The Panthers are a good solid side who will beat the poorer teams and struggle against the better ones. 5/7 is a decent price for the Panthers to win but there are better bets out there for you to get on.

Curtis Samuel and D.J Moore are both options to score touchdowns but their other wide receiver is the guy to bet on. Robby Anderson to score anytime looks a good bet at 11/10 as you could see him beating out the Atlanta secondary. He has the speed and strength to do well against this defense and has been in good form.

The Bet : Robby Anderson to score a touchdown anytime at 11/10
