Its Thursday Night Football and we have got two historic teams going head to head but can the Packers claim redemption against the 49ers?

Its week nine of the NFL  season and we are starting to see which teams are going to contend. On Thursday Night Football we have got two teams who are hoping to contend at the end of the year. However, both teams have shown that they have problems. The 49ers made it to the Super Bowl last year by beating the Packers but have serious injury problems. The Packers have defensive problems and bad memories in San Francisco last year. So can the Packers claim redemption against the 49ers?

Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers had a really good start to the season going 4-0 up in the first four weeks. Since they had their bye week they have gone 1-2 and have not looked the same team. They lost to the Bucs three weeks ago and the had another defeat on Sunday at home to the Vikings. The biggest problem that the Packers have is their inability to stop the run. Ronald Jones hit over 100 yards against them and on Sunday Dalvin Cook rushed for over 160 yards and three touchdowns.

Aaron Rodgers has had a good season throwing 17 touchdowns and only two interceptions. He has now got his biggest weapon back in Davante Adams who has had an injury hit season. Although Adams has only played four games, he has still received for 449 yards and four touchdowns. Another blow for the Packers has been the injury to Aaron Jones. Jones has only played five of the seven games but has over 500 all purpose yards and seven touchdowns. Robert Tonyan has looked good this year as another option for Rodgers.

San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers have had a bumpy season this year currently sitting at 4-4. This is along way from the Super Bowl appearance just last season. The biggest reason for this is a crazy long injury list that has just got longer after Sunday. Starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo has had an injury hit season and went down last Sunday with a high ankle sprain. Also star tight end George Kittle has also gone down with a broken bone in his foot and both guys will be out for a long time.

Nick Mullens came in for Garoppolo earlier in the season and looked good at times and poor at times. He came back in on Sunday and looked good against Seattle but couldn’t pull the deficit back. At running back the 49ers are missing Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman has struggled with injuries. Jamycal Hasty looked decent against Seattle and Jerick McKinnon will be the main two guys against Green Bay. With Deebo Samuel out, Mullens will have Brandon Aiyuk and Kendrick Bourne as his main targets.

The Game

This game is going to be about which team can cope the best without a lot of big name players. The 49ers have been decimated with injuries with Jimmy Garoppolo and George Kittle the latest. It will be about if Nick Mullens can have a decent game and cope as the starter. Also, Green Bay have lost their first three choices at running back and are relying on back-ups. Currently the Packers look the stronger team on paper which is why they are the 4-9 favorites for the win. This price is way to short though considering they have gone 1-2 in the last three weeks.

One massive negative for the Packers is that they just cant stop the run. This was proven twice last year, both times against the 49ers. Nothing has changed this year, as we all saw from the games against the Bucs and the Vikings. The 49ers will score points with the run against this weak run defense. The Packers will score through the brilliance of Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams. With that in mind the spread looks the most appealing as it looks like this will be a tight game. Take the San Francisco side at +5.5 points in the game at a standout price.

The Bet : San Francisco on the spread at +5.5 points in the game at 1/1
