According to Mike Silver of the NFL Network, the Los Angeles Rams have begun shopping wide receiver Brandin Cooks to any interested buyers. If they are able to move him, it would be the third time Cooks has been traded in his young career.

Brandon Cooks has been there and done that

Brandin Cooks spent three prolific seasons with Drew Brees and Sean Payton in New Orleans where he totaled just under 3,000 yards receiving and 20 touchdowns. He was traded to the New England Patriots after the 2016 season for a 1st round draft choice. In his lone season in New England he recorded 1082 yards on 65 receptions and 7 of which resulted in touchdowns.

Impressive, but Bill Belichick was more impressed with the 1st round draft pick he got by shipping Cooks to the Rams in 2017. Cooks stepped in immediately to help lead Head Coach Sean McVay’s vaunted passing attack totaling just over 1200 yards receiving on 80 receptions and 5 touchdowns. That season the Rams made it to the Super Bowl but were stifled by Belichick and the Patriots in the lowest scoring Super Bowl of all time.

Rams want to deal Cooks

Coming off a season in which he missed two games due to concussions, Cooks turned in the lowest offensive output of his career with 583 yards and 2 touchdowns. Last season saw Cooper Kupp return to health and pair with Robert Woods to lead the receiving corp even when Cooks was healthy. With a cap hit of $16.8 million looming in 2021 that is a number GM Les Snead and the Rams will look to unload.
