The NFL season has finally arrived. Check out the lowdown on the Texans vs Chiefs game and get the best bet for your season opener.

This Thursday night sees the opening game of the NFL season in Kansas City. The Super Bowl winners, the Kansas City Chiefs, will take on the Houston Texans. Both sides are known for offense and it will be a good match up to kick the season off. We’ll take a look into the best bet for this 2020 season opener.

The Kansas City Chiefs

The Chiefs have signed up there two main offensive weapons for many years to come. Patrick Mahomes signed a record breaking 12 year deal and Travis Kelce a 4-year deal. Both guys are integral to the success of the team and this shows they are in a win now scenario for the next few years. Also the Chiefs went and drafted one of the best young running backs out of college in Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Edwards-Helaire is a natural pass catcher who will provide the Chiefs with an option should Mahomes not have anyone downfield.

Tyreek Hill is still there to stretch the play and Sammy Watkins and Mecole Hardman are great support guys. Defensively the Chiefs still look like they have what it takes to be a top ten defense. This team is strong and are 7/1 second favorites to win the Super Bowl for a reason.

The Houston Texans

The Texans have had a tumultuous offseason with the loss of their biggest star, DeAndre Hopkins. Hopkins was traded away to the Arizona Cardinals for running back David Johnson. Also, both teams traded some picks as part of the deal. However, it has been widely agreed that this was a bad move, giving away a star wide receiver. There was a reason though. The Texans didn’t have a great running back who could do all the main work. Johnson has had injuries over the last couple of years but the hope is he can get back to his form of 2016.

With Hopkins gone, the Texans had to go out an get a new receiver, which they have in Brandin Cooks. Cooks has been a 1,000 yard receiver most years for the Patriots, Saints and Rams. He wont be as good as Hopkins but he is a solid option for DeShaun Watson. Along with Cooks the team has bought back Will Fuller and Kenny Stills as further good options. The defense is ok but not spectacular as some of the guys are aging now.

The Game

The opening game of any NFL season brings added pressure to those involved. Everyone will be watching as they haven’t been able to watch any football since January. The Chiefs are the stronger team but the Texans won in Arrowhead in the regular season. The last game they played though was in the playoffs which the Chiefs won. Kelce was limited in practice during the week but is good to go now. Cooks  has a quad issue but is likely to play.

The Bet

The Chiefs are the best team in this contest. However, at 4/17 they are to short for it to be my choice. Both teams are a pass heavy offense which will provide good opportunities for the run game. DeShaun Watson and David Johnson will be the Texans main runners. So although the Chiefs will win the Texan run game is where to make the bet in order to get value. DeShaun Watson is 13/8 for a touchdown anytime and David Johnson is 15/8 for the same. This is by far the best bet for the season opener.

My bet: Deshaun Watson to score a touchdown anytime at 13/8
