The Atlanta Falcons had a disappointing season in 2019. Which players could make an impact in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft?

The talent the Atlanta Falcons have on their roster does not correspond to the level and inconsistency they showed every Sunday. There were many rumors that Head Coach Dan Quinn would not continue in his position in 2020. However, general manager Thomas Dimitroff kept him, hoping he could lift the course of this franchise.

The Falcons were one of the teams with the most injuries in recent times, their defense, diminished by this situation suffered a lot these losses and had an unfortunate and disappointing performance. They have excellent pieces like Grady Jarrett, Deion Jones, Keanu Neal, and Desmond Trufant, but outside of those four, any player is expendable.

To be able to make a push for a championship, they must improve this unit, let’s see who would be good options:

The need for a pass rusher is enormous. Unfortunately, after Chase Young and K’Lavon Chaisson, the talent gap drops a lot. If the board favors the Falcons, Chaisson could be available in this situation and attack the need instantly. Ranking 29th in sacks is something they need to change right away, and Chaisson could help in that regard.

Takk McKinley has not been what the Falcons expected, and Vic Beasley will not return to the team. Due to the urgency, they have to impact their defense, Atlanta cannot afford to wait for the second round. If Chaisson is available, he must be the pick.

Another option that needs the board to be benevolent with the Falcons. It will be difficult for Atlanta to have Kinlaw available in this pick, but the need for other teams in other positions can open the door for this to happen.

Kinlaw is an absolute star inside. His presence would immediately impact and make this a much better unit. Putting him alongside one of the best linemen in the league in Grady Jarrett could be the spark that this team needs to fight back on top.

De’Vondre Campbell will knock on the doors of the Free Agency and open a need in the middle of the defense. Patrick Queen has been rising on the boards and will probably be the first linebacker selected.

His reading speed and ability to cover would help this defense a lot. Pairing him with former LSU Deion Jones would give them one of the best young linebacker tandems in the NFL. Although they could get great value in later rounds, Queen is an excellent prospect. Both of the other options could be gone by this time.
