Antwan Davis is a 2021 NFL Draft Prospect

Antwan Davis is a wide receiver from Ball State and a prospect for the 2021 NFL Draft. Davis started seven of Ball State’s eight games this year, including the MAC Championship and their bowl game win over San Jose State. He finished third on the team in receptions and receiving yards.

In the 2020 season, Davis reeled in 39 catches for 466 yards (11.9 YPC) with 1 touchdown. According to Pro Football Focus, Davis ranked 171st among wide receivers with an Overall grade of 71.1 (68.3 Receiving, 80.9 Run Blocking). He ranked 35th among WRs in terms of Run Blocking grades, as well.

David was an all-state selection twice in high school, finishing with 18 touchdowns and over 1200 all-purpose yards as a senior. His single-season record for receptions (93) still stands. But Davis did not receive much interest from colleges and attended Division 2 Lincoln University (MO) for one year. After transferring up to Ball State in 2016, Davis took a redshirt year.

In 2017, Davis played 11 games with 6 starts at wide receiver, but he only caught 17 balls for 176 yards. His fortunes did not improve in 2018, as he broke his foot in the first game and missed the rest of the season. But Davis came back in 2019 and put up his best numbers, finishing third on the team with 38 catches for 516 yards and 3 touchdowns.

In the NFL, Davis projects best as a slot receiver used primarily on short and intermediate routes that take advantage of his run-after-catch abilities. His competitive toughness is among his best traits, so he is an excellent blocker and powerful runner, despite his size. If injuries strike above him on the depth chart, Davis could contribute on offense quickly.
